Lake Almanor is situated in Plumas County situated in Northern California near Mt Lassen Volcanic park about 45 minutes east of Red Bluff California. It sits at approximately 4200 feet elevation this is a man-made lake owned by PG&E, Pacific Gas & Electric

Company. Lake Almanor is a kidney shaped lake and has a peninsula that extends out into the center of the lake. Because the peninsula branches out and almost cuts the lake in half. When the wind picks up on one side of the lake just go to the other side of the peninsula and you’ll have flatter calmer water . This is a wonderful lake for anything water related. Also

the fishing in this lake is quite awesome, stocked with rainbow trout German brown trout, smallmouth bass landlocked salmon and largemouth bass in some areas. The lake is not really all that deep. The north side of the lake is the shallow area where you wil find more Bass activity. The south side of the lake is the deeper side of the lake. Especially over towards the dam area it comes to I think the 80 foot mark most of the Lake is in the 30-40 foot depth 70 feet in some areas the deeper slots in the lake are going to be your better fishing areas in the summertime fish go down for the cooler water and where the water is more oxygenated. Thread fin shad and many aquatic insects make up a rich food source
